Prison Ministry

Praise The Lord... 5 Souls Saved Yesterday!

Yesterday, we were able to go into the Catoosa County Jail, located in Ringgold, GA. We were able to present the Gospel message and we saw the Lord Save 5 Souls! (*3 Men and 2 Women.)

We were able to do this through joining the efforts of Anchored In The Rock Prison Ministries.

Bless His Holy Name, He is still winning the Lost!

Understanding God

Isaiah 40:28 "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding."

I know from my own stand point that there have been, and still are, numerous times that I have found myself "Trying" to understand just what God was doing or thinking in a given situation. This passage of scripture clears up my "Mis-guided" thinking. Isaiah says here that there is NO searching of His "Understanding". What does this actually mean?
I began to do some digging in the Bible and this is what I found.

Job 11:7-9 "Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea."

No one can fully understand God! No one can fully understand the perfection of God , or even His ways. I do however believe that by reading The Bible we can learn as much as we need to know so that we can be satisfied that God in His Wisdom, His Goodness, His Mercy, Grace and Truth IS, in fact, in complete control in our lives!

Isaiah 41:20 "That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it."

In this passage, verses 10-20 show us "Why" God does what He does. Here God is telling Israel through the Prophet Isaiah that He (*GOD) IS going to deliver them from their enemies and He will also meet all of their needs. Even though Israel does not think that it is possible, God tries to encourage them to believe Him. After this encouragement we come to verse 20 where God saya that He wants Israel to "See", to "Know", to "Consider" and then to "Understand"!

The same thing applies to you and I today who are Born Again Children of God. He (*God) wants us to realize that even when we think He cannot reach us, He cannot solve our particular problem, or it is just TOO MUCH FOR EVEN GOD!

You say, "No one would ever say that anything was too much for God to handle." I've got news for you... it happens everyday! When we reach the end of ourselves, when we have tried to solve the problems by our own means and come up short, we usually just give up and sink down into self pity.

When what "WE OUGHT TO DO" is:

  • "See" that God is there to help us no matter what we may think. (*Numbers 6:26 "The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.")

  • "Know" that God, The Holy One of Israel, IS the same God that we serve! (*Isaiah 45:5 "I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:")

  • "Consider" what God can do... He can do EVERYTHING! (*Psalms 40:5 "Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.")

  • "Understand" The answer is already on the way! (* Daniel 10:10-14 "And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.")

I know that there is absolutely no way that I could, in just a few short words, adequitely explain in detail the method or means by which you, myself or anyone else, for that matter, could COMPLETELY grasp the total concept of "Understanding God".

It really just boils down to this... God IS here! God CAN do anything! God WILL take your burden! God HAS made a way of escape! God STILL Saves!

I hope that this will in some small way encourage you to do some digging on your own, and NEVER stop trusting and believing that He CAN and WILL do just exactly what He said He would do!

Stay before The Lord in all you do!

"Accepted of God"

"Accepted Of God"
II Corinthians 5:9
"Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him."

I have been spending a little time on this beautiful day to think on the above phrase... "Accepted of God".

According to Webster's the word "Accepted" means: Kindly received; regarded; agreed to; or understood.
Think about what this means to you and I. It means that God Himself IS "Kindly Receiving" you and I into His Presence, His Love, His Mercy, His Grace, His Joy and His Forgiveness. It also means that Jesus IS "Regarding" you and I. Think about this... Jesus Christ, who gave up everything He had in order for us to have Salvation and Heaven IS RIGHT NOW "Regarding" us.
The word "Regard" is defined one way as follows: "To look towards". Isn't that a great thought! Jesus in regarding us IS looking towards us! He (Jesus) IS watching us. Another definition of the word "Regard" is "To observe; to notice with some particularity". To me this points out that God observes us with a "Godly, Particular, Observation". Meaning that He see's us and watches over us AS ONLY HE CAN!
The Phrase "Agreed To" is defined this way, "Being in concord or harmony of opinion; of one mind." God says that When He "Accepted" you and I we came into a "Harmony of Opinion". That harmony of opinion, and being of "One Mind" means that we are in line and agreement with HIS (God's) opinion and HIS (God's) mind! (*Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:")
The word "Understood" has a few definitions attached to it. One of which is: "To have the same ideas as the person who speaks, or the ideas which a person intends to communicate. By this definition, I read that when we are "Accepted of God", not only are we "Kindly Received", "Regarded", and "Agreed To", but we are also "Understood" by HIM (*God) that The Ideas that we have in our heart and our head are in fact the SAME IDEAS that HE has! These "Ideas" He has and will continue to relay to us through His Precious Word, The Bible!
This is what I have been meditating and dwelling in thought on most of today! It may sound like "Pure Drivel" to some of you, but for me it has been a sourse of encouragement for my heart and mind today.
Thank you for listening to my thoughts. I must admit, even I need to open up at times and just share what I have inside. The last few weeks have been most trying weeks indeed for my family and I. We have been put through many test's and trials, some we have sailed through with flying colors, others have not been so easily overcome.
Today, God knew that I needed Him with me, to quiet my thoughts and to calm my heart. I Thank God for His Love and Compassion. I also thank Him for His matchless Grace!
What A Mighty God We Serve!!!!!!

The Searcher Of All Hearts.. The LORD!

1 Chronicles 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
No we are not talking about Valentines Day, nor are we talking about "Lovey-Dovey" kind of stuff. In fact, this is not talking about one person's heart in relation to another person. I am talking about "THE" Searcher of ALL Hearts! This can ONLY be referring to God Himself!
King David is talking to his son Solomon here in this particular passage of scripture. Here we see an earthly father who is desperately trying to impart to his son some wisdom for him to learn from the lessons that have already been learned by David, so that hopefully Solomon might not have to learn them the hard way.
I can well remember many times when I have had similar conversations with my own father about different things that I might encounter in life and in ministry. I can honestly say just what a blessing these times have been to me personally, I can imagine that Solomon too learned a great deal by his father's trial and error that he passed to him in these moments.
If you read this verse through you can see that King David is trying to point Solomon in the right direction right from the start of the verse. It begins: "And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind:..." Here David says that the most important thing in his (*David's) life is:
  1. "Knowing" and "Serving" God with a "Perfect" heart. This is the first Truth that David wants solomon to fully understand!
We can understand the words Knowing, meaning to know and Serving meaning to serve. Lets take a moment to look at the word Perfect. This does not mean what we today think. The word Perfect here in scripture means: to complete; to do or make through, to carry to the end, or to be thoroughly complete, whole.
God wants you and I to know what David was telling Solomon, because God is telling the same thing to you and I today. We (You and I) need to Know Him, Serve Him and to do so with a Perfect, Whole or Complete Heart. God does not want, nor does He deserve half hearted service! He demands Total, Absolute, Complete, Dedicated, Selfless Service.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of servant's are we? Should we be ashamed of our own personal "Lack" of dedication to serving Him? Is God pleased with My service to Him? Is He pleased with Your's? How will we have to answer? I can't answer for anyone but myself... God have Mercy on us.
Oh how this simple, foundational truth is missing in Christians, Churches and sadly even Preacher's today in our world. Boy, do "WE" need to get back to the basics!
Let's continue looking at this verse. David now gives Solomon the "WHY" he should do the first part. David goes on to say: "...for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts:..." David tells him that THE LORD Searcheth ALL and Understandeth ALL Imaginations. I beg of you, don't be fooled, He knows the contents of every last heart that this world will ever have in it. That's correct friend... He knows your heart and mine. He knows the dirty, filthy thought life that is in there. He knows the Depth of depravity and godless perversion that we all have inside. He knows the Motivation behind why you do everything! He knows why you go to church, He knows if it is out of a genuine love and desire to worship Him, to lift up praises and glorify His precious Name, or HE REALLY DOES KNOW that you come to church only to keep the preacher from coming to your living room and making you feel uncomfortable about NOT being in the services. Maybe your reason is to keep your spouse out of your hair and off your back. Whatever the TRUE, REAL reason and motivation in your life... God knows the truth.
That is a thought that should make us all quake in our boots! One day soon, we will have to stand before Him and give an answer... What will you, and I for that matter, give as an excuse for our patheic service.
Lastly, David points out to Solomon "The Benefits" of taking and following his advice in this relationship with God. Look at the rest of the verse. "... if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever." David points out to Solomon, and I in turn point out to you the wondrous Truth that IF WE WILL SEEK GOD, HE WILL BE FOUND!!! I am not kidding with you folks, God CAN be found today and He can be real in your life, not just in church, but IN EVERY AREA OF LIFE! Your Home, Work and Play will never be the same IF we will just grab onto this fact.
However, David did not stop there. He didn't only give Solomon the Good News that God can be found and made real, he also had to point out what I am showing you. David made sure that Solomon knew that God was not about to force Himself upon him. God will NEVER FORCE Himself upon anyone. Look at the verse again... If we, that is you and I today, forsake Him, God WILL "CAST" US OFF FOREVER! This means Eternal Separation from God.
Understand this, there will not be even one mistake by God when it comes to who will live forever in Hell. The choice is not God's... it is Your's and Mine!
What is your choice going to be???? Will you be one who FINDS GOD, or will you be one who is SEPARATED FROM GOD FOR ALL ETERNITY!
My friend, I beg you to consider this outcome. God is reaching out to you this moment... won't you accept His free gift of Eternal Life?? I hope you will do so... don't put it off another minute! He Can Be Found Right Now!
It's up to you.
Make the Right Choice.

A Test of Faith... Is Standing Alone!

STANDING ALONE
The question that I want to start out asking is this... Have you ever had to "Stand Alone"?
Have you ever come to a point in your life when through situations that are outside of your personal control, you suddenly find yourself standing, as it feels in your heart, ALONE????
I must first state the following: I know that as a Christian, a child of God, WE, (Those of us who are saved and on our way to heaven.), are Truly NEVER alone because we have Jesus who promised us in His Word that He would NOT leave us alone:
Deuteronomy 4:31
(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Joshua 1:5
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

1 Chronicles 28:20
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
I am not talking about being alone, without God. This wouls be impossible according to the Bible, and again, I Praise God for this truth.
I am referring to those times when we, as weak human vessels, look around us and see attacks from every side! We are looking around for "Fellow Warriors", who are supposed to be fighting right along side of us, and we realize that we are "Fighting the Enemy all by ourselves! This is the situation and the prospect that I am talking about.
The stark realization that "Yes" WE ARE STANDING... BUT WE ARE DOING SO ALL ALONE!
REALIZATION OF THE FACT
Looking back over my short 40 year life span, I can recall many times when I have had that same feeling, that lonely, depressing feeling that seems to grow worse with the acknowlegment that the feeling actually exists in the heart, mind and life of a Christian.
No one doubts the reality of this feeling because at some time or other in all of our lives, we ALL have felt alone. This is usually a tough topic for people to agree with because of most folks DENY THE TRUTH, even when it is right there in front of their faces.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT IT?
The answer to this is simple... Understand that in these times we are facing "TESTING OF OUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST"!
James 1:3
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Ephesians 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
This is the simple answer: "... and having done all, to stand." If you will carefully notice this verse, the Lord says through the writings of Paul, by the Holy Spirit of God, that WE ARE TO JUST STAND... NO MATTER WHAT! Friend, are you feeling alone as you stand for the Father in heaven? If so... STAND! Preacher, Pastor, Missionary, Evangelist, Sunday School Teacher, Bus Worker... Whatever and whomever you may be, if this describes you... THEN JUST STAND IN HIM!
You will find many times that it IS a lonely road when serving the Lord, BUT if we will just look towards HIM, look to Jesus and remember that He too stood completely alone.

Matthew 27:11
And Jesus stood (*Alone) before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

Matthew 27:27-31
(27) Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus (*Alone) into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
(28) And they stripped him (*Alone), and put on him a scarlet robe.
(29) And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head (*Alone), and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him (*Alone), saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
(30) And they spit upon him (*Alone), and took the reed, and smote him (*Alone) on the head.
(31) And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. (*ALL ALONE!)
I know in my heart there are many who struggle with this same thing, Most folks have to deal with this on a "Daily Basis". May I encourage each one of us to "Take a Stand For The Lord and Keep On Standing... NO MATTER WHAT THE COST MAY BE"!
Keep On Standing!
