The " WHY" Factor

Yesterday I told you that I would try and explain a bit more as to what happened, well here it is.

Recently I was the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church located in Grove Hill, AL.

My family and I had been there since last February. On Sunday November 2, 2008 I was told by the men of the church that they wanted me to make a change. They wanted me to STOP witnessing to the blacks in our community. They informed me that they wanted to have a "White's Only Church".

I told them that I was NOT able to do what they demanded, The Gospel is NOT a White's Only Gospel, That Jesus did NOT die for the White's Only, Heaven is NOT a White's Only destination. The Bloord of Jesus is for EVERYONE!

My answer to them was that I refused to STOP telling everyone I could about Jesus, regardless of their Color, Background or Financial standing.

I sent out the following e-mail on Monday November 3, 2008:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fired Again!

This e-mail is to formally announce that I have been forced to resign the pastor position at Calvary Baptist Church in Grove Hill, AL.

I was asked to step down because I dared to share the gospel with the black community. we had several folks saved and baptized, then they wanted to come and join in membership with us and for the first time in the entire 20 year history of this church, there were 3 black members.

The white members of the church rose up this week and said that they wanted a "White's Only" church, I informed them that I would not, I could not go against what I believe the Bible teaches about how Jesus died for ALL (*Black, White, Red, Brown, Tan, Yellow....)
and that His gift of Salvation was to ALL PEOPLE!

They told me that if I couldn't do what they wanted then I would be forced to step down.

There you have it!

What now??!!

I'm glad you asked! We are today announcing that we, my family and I, are "Re-Entering" full time Evangelism. We are booking meetings as we speak!

Please pray for us, we are packing up our stuff, we are planning a HUGE yard sale to sell everything that will not fit into our bus.

We want to thank you for praying!

Evangelist David J. Dunn & Family

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I followed this one up with another e-mail on November 6, 2008:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As most of you know, last Sunday ( November 2, 2008) I was forced to resign, well, last night(Wed. November 5, 2008) after attending services at a church in our area where a total stranger gave money to the Pastor of that church and said for him to give it to us. Praise the Lord, we went to Wal-Mart to get a few things we desperately needed. When we came out of the store, 2 men from Calvary Baptist were sitting in their cars waiting on us, and they got out of their cars and walked over to me.
They handed me a letter and said that it was a "Response to my Resignation".

I waited until we got home, I did not want to open it in front of my kids, and when we opened it we found the following.

1. We had asked for them to allow us to stay in the parsonage until we were able to get the funds to move and until I had a place to move to.

Their answer: DENIED... (We have until 11/17/2008 to get out)

2. We had not had a salary check since the beginning of August, so we asked for them to pay us "Back Salary" which was owed.

Their answer: DENIED... (They called CLA and were told that since I had stood in the pulpit and had said that I was "Willing" to go without a salary check for a while, due to the churches struggling financial situation, that they DID NOT OWE ME A DIME!

Folks, We need your prayers! We have less than 2 weeks until they come knocking on the door and try to drag our stuff to the road. (**By the way, the "Drag our stuff to the road" comment has been mentioned by them already, so they are planning on it!)

Please pray that God will open up the windows of heaven and pour out His blessings on us so that we can get out of here asap!

Still Standing for the Lord,

Evangelist David J. Dunn

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am happy to say that Today, November 19, 2008, I am sending this to you from my parents house in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My family and I loaded up what we could in our vehicle and a very small 5x8 foot trailer. We left behind over 18 years worth of memories, furniture, clothes, pictures, dishes, books, computer equipment and a lot of other personal effects.

I am amazed that the same type of thinking that was around in the 40's & 50's is still running free in America. I could not believe that they actually wanted me to do this. I know that I stood for Jesus and what was right in that time of crisis.

Folks, we all need to be standing on the Bible and the truth's contained in it, no matter what the cost is.

Please don't be one of those who caves in instead of standing.

At The Ready...

Well, My family and I finally moved out of Alabama and we are now in Chattanooga, Tennessee visiting with my whole family for Thanksgiving.

We are right now in a bit of a "Holding Pattern". We are waiting for the Lord to finalize the receiving of the bus that we are going to live and travel in.

We are relieved to be away from the situation there in Grove Hill, AL. My heart breaks for the people of Calvary Baptist Church. I have had some people tell me that I should not name the name of the Church on the chance that some of them might see it and be offended by it. I am not intentionaly trying to hurt anyone, but the TRUTH is the TRUTH! My heart IS broken for them. I believe that God used us to give those folks one last chance to get right with Him and serve Him like they should. Sadly, they told Him (God) to "Take a Hike" instead.

Know this, I do NOT rejoice in any way about the current situation this Church finds themselves in and I do pray that God, in His Judgment, will be merciful. I think about the "Good" people who are mixed up in this "Bad" situation and I am brought to tears for them. There are children in this Church who have just seen Mom and Dad tell the preacher to "Get Out", what kind of message is that to a 16, 14, 12 year old or even younger?

There are some who are not familiar with the "Why" this Church asked me to leave.

I want to invite you to come back tomorrow and read the whole thing. I am going to bring it all out into the open.

Please pray for us,

Evangelist David Dunn

Please pray for us as we move forward in this direction.

Real Character Matters

“Real Character Matters”

It was once said to me that the way to know what your real level of “Character” is, is based by what you do in the dark, when no one is looking.
Someone else once said that “Character” is what you would do if you realized that Jesus was watching your every move.

Both of these I can see some truth in. However, I believe that “Real Character” involves a little more than that.

Character is by definition: “The peculiar qualities, impressed by nature or habit on a person, which distinguish him from others; these constitute real character, and the qualities which he is supposed to possess, constitute his estimated character, or reputation.”

We see that there are “peculiar qualities… which distinguish” each person from everybody else. These make each one of us unique. You know what I mean by this don't you?? If we were all were all exactly alike then this would be a very boring place to be. I know that the world would have been a real let down had it not been blessed with my personal presence!

You say "Brother Dunn, that was a very conceited thing to say!!" Well, don't get your hair all in a "Tizzy", the same thing can be said of you too! In fact it can be said of ALL OF US!

Next we see the “supposed” qualities which make up our reputation, or estimated character. (What I could Be.) The possibilities of what "Might Be". I am so glad that our Father In Heaven doesn't deal in "Possibilities".

Matthew 5:1-2
(1) And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
(2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

** Jesus sat and demonstrated for us all exactly how Character becomes a reality in our lives.

Character is not something that "Just Happens" it is something that MUST be taught. The disciples were men who were chosen or hand picked by Jesus Himself, but he had to teach them what they were to do and How to live. He taught them character.

Recently, a lady in our church came to me after a service and asked me this question: "Preacher, How did the disciples know what they were supposed to do after Jesus ascended to heaven?"

The answer was not lengthy or even "Deep Theology", it was simply the fact that Jesus had taught them BEFORE He left them here to carry on.

Jesus taught them from day one just who they were to become, that way when He did leave them on this earth they would know exactly what to do. Even with His last words to them, as He was going up into heaven, He was still teaching and instructing them.

This is something that is missing in our day and age. Our kids are NOT learning character at home or even at church, they are being taught by the Television, Video's and Electronic Games what the phrase "Life Lessons" means.

See, to me, I believe that if I leave it up to some "Pin-Head" in Hollywood, or New York City to be the one to teach my children what the word "Character" means, my kids and myself as well, will be sadly disappointed with the final outcome.

The Bible teaches us what some of the "Real Characteristics", or building blocks of a Christian life are:

Matthew 5:3-12
(3) Blessed are the poor in spirit
(Humble): for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(4) Blessed are they that mourn (Mourn for their Own sin’s, or for the sin’s of Man.): for they shall be comforted.
(5) Blessed are the meek
(Meekness is patience in the receiving of injuries.): for they shall inherit the earth.
(6) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness
(Strong or complete desire to be and do right because it is right; trusting not in their own righteousness, but in the righteousness of Christ.): for they shall be filled.
(7) Blessed are the merciful
(Someone who is affected by the sufferings of others, and wants to be able to alleviate them.): for they shall obtain mercy.
(8) Blessed are the pure in heart
(That is, whose minds, motives, and principles are pure. Who seek not only to have the external actions correct, but who desire to be holy in heart, and who are so.): for they shall see God.
(9) Blessed are the peacemakers
(Those who strive to prevent contention, and strife, and war.): for they shall be called the children of God.
(10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake
(Because they have, or are closely following after, the righteousness here described.): for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you
(or abuse you to your face.), and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely (False accusation, or lies), for my sake.
(12) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

These are the “Real Characteristics” that we find in Jesus Christ, in His followers, and in story after story, person after person from Genesis to Revelation.

The question then remains, are these "Characteristics" found in you?

Are you able to see these traits in your children?

If you are NOT teaching these things in your family, if these traits are not found in you, what about your church??

Folks, we all should be very concerned about the total lack of intrest in "Character" in our country and society.

This country was founded by men and women who had "Real Character".
Just where did they learn it??
From the BIBLE being taught to them at home, and the truth being preached in the pulpits of the churches where they attended. We need to wake up NOW, or else we will lose our children.

Christian America... it's coming!

Silence In the Pulpit

Silence In the Pulpit

I began to put together some things on this particular subject for my blog, when I came across the following blog. It was so good and directly in line with what I wanted to say that I decided to show you. I like what this "Coach" had to say and I also believe that he and I are in agreement on this issue.
Please read.
...AND THE PULPITS ARE SILENT

By Coach Dave DaubenmireMarch 6, 2008
NewsWithViews.com

For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? Jeremiah 5:26-31

"Despite what the political parties would like you to believe, the problem in America is not the politicians, it is the pulpits. I hate to break the news to you, but most of America’s pulpits are filled with cowardly men. They are a shame to the Christ they claim to serve.
Harsh words, aren’t they? Not the type of thing that will make any friends in this “cheap-Grace” culture in which we live. But that’s okay. I’m not looking to make friends.

I am about fed-up with what I see. How did we ever get such man-pleasing leaders? All that our fore-fathers held dear is being destroyed before our very eyes and hardly a peep from the pulpit. They don’t want to hear it. It's the pulpiteers that I am talking about. They are concerned with being too harsh, they tell me that “Jesus is in control,” that they are not “called” to fight evil and that "we should pray for our enemies.”

Where have these guys come from? What we need is a return of the Voice of God thundering through the prophets standing in America’s pulpits. Not the prissy Purpose Driven drivel passing as the Gospel today. The feminized-preachers of today cannot hold a candle to those who ushered in The Great Awakening which led to the American Revolution, and the abolition of slavery -- two world-changing events spearheaded by the pulpit.

Listen to the message of America’s premiere preachers today. Rick Warren and his Purpose Driven Life have infiltrated the Church. Over 400,000 pastors have attended his conferences and over 40 million of his books have been sold. Wikipedia tells us “Since September 2002, over 30,000 congregations, corporations, and sports teams across the United States have participated in a "40 Days of Purpose" emphasis. A May 2005 survey of American pastors and ministers conducted by George Barna asked Christian leaders to identify what books were the most influential on their lives and ministries." The Purpose Driven Life was the most frequent response. Today’s Christians are more familiar with the words of Warren than the Words of Jesus. Thousands of America’s churches have used it in their Bible Studies and thousands of preachers preach Warren’s message.

Joel Osteen was voted Most Influential Christian in 2006. His preaching style focuses on “the goodness of God rather than sin.” He is a self-described “Life-coach” and “thinks that there are probably others better qualified, or more gifted for explaining Bible verses. Osteen explains that he tries to teach Biblical principles in a simple way, emphasizing the power of love and a positive attitude.” Wikipedia. “Presently, Osteen and several Lakewood Church team members travel across the nation, presenting programs in large stadiums to a paying public.” He has sold millions of books to millions of feel-good Christians. Watch this.

While our nation is killing babies, our schools are indoctrinating Christian-kids in Secular Humanism, and “Truth has fallen in the streets,” our preachers are attending church-growth seminars, using ‘self-help” books to supplement the Bible, and chasing after the butts and bucks.
They are fiddling while the nation burns, building their church rather than Christ’s Kingdom.

Public schools are destroying the faith of Christian children and the pulpits are silent.

Legislation is introduced to remove the rights of parents and the pulpits are silent.

Children are taught they came from apes and the pulpits are silent.

Millions of children are “medicated” to control their behavior and the pulpits are silent.

Gambling is promoted to pay for schools and the pulpits are silent.

Precious babies are being murdered in the womb and the pulpits are silent.

Planned Parenthood kills babies with our tax dollars and the pulpits are silent.

Judges make laws and the pulpits are silent.

Tolerance trumps Truth and the pulpits are silent.

Sodomy is granted legal protection and the pulpits are silent.

The institution of marriage is crumbling and the pulpits are silent.

Obama says the Sermon on the Mount justifies gay marriage and the pulpits are silent.

Government has replaced God as defender and provider and the pulpits are silent.

Faith-based initiatives invite the government into the Church and the pulpits are silent.

The IRS muzzles the voice of the Church and the pulpits are silent.

Taxes are levied to do the work of the Church and the pulpits are silent.

The Church locks arms with compassionate-conservativism and the pulpits are silent.

Children’s service agencies separate family members and the pulpits are silent.

Self-help books replace the Bible and the pulpits are silent.

A Purpose Driven Life is elevated above dying to self and the pulpits are silent.

G.W. Bush says Christians and Muslims worship the same God and the pulpits are silent.

The Constitution is ignored and the pulpits are silent.

Pagans pray to open a session of Congress and the pulpits are silent.

Our elected officials lie and steal and the pulpits are silent.

Private property is stolen by government and the pulpits are silent.

Mother Earth is protected more than Father God is defended and the pulpits are silent.

Illegal aliens over-run our borders and the pulpits are silent.

The entertainment industry celebrates debauchery and the pulpits are silent.

From a bygone era, the sound from the pulpit rumbles throughout the ages.

"Could a mariner sit idle if he heard the drowning cry? Could a doctor sit in comfort and just let his patients die? Could a fireman sit idle, let men burn and give no hand? Can you sit at ease in Zion with the world around you DAMNED?" - Leonard Ravenhill
"Churches don't need new members half so much as they need the old bunch made over. There wouldn't be so many non-church goers if there were not so many non-going churches. Too many churches are little more than four walls and a roof."- Billy Sunday

The voice from the pulpit today sings a different song.

“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” Jeremiah 5:31.
Truth, justice and the American way are a thing of the past.

“None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.” Isaiah 59:4.
Tragically, the pulpits are silent."
God Bless Coach Dave Daubenmire. We, Christian America, need more Christians AND Preachers who are not afraid to stand and scream out the truth!
Preacher... Will you be one who STANDS?....................... God help us to do just that... STAND!

Missionaries Ken and Barbara Sibley

I would like to take a few moments and introduce to you a missionary couple that has a unique ministry. They are Bro. Ken and Sis. Barbara Sibley. We met the Sibley's a little over 3 years ago while in a church in Kissimmee, Florida. In the meeting there where we were first introduced to them we were amazed as they both were used mightily for the Lord. That night we saw 17 people saved!
We had the honor of having the Sibley's to come for a Saturday and all day on Sunday. During their time with us here, they once again showed just how compassionate and loving that True Christians can really be. They surely gave us much more than we were able to give them. The Sibley's are the "Real Deal".
While in our church, we had a wonderful time and we had one young lady saved. The Sibley's have been used by the Lord this year to see over 200 souls come to Christ!
I whole-heartedly recommend Bro. Ken and Sis. Barbara Sibley, You NEED to have these folks in your Church, they will warm your heart, put a smile on your face and bring lost souls into the kingdom in the process.

Blogging Blahs....

I know it has been a while since I last Blogged............. what can I say, I was very BORED!

I have found myself in a slump as to what things intrigue me. When you hit the skids in the creative department, you just sit around with this look on your face. I was looking on the net for a face that could correctly convey my current feelings of boredom, and this kid has it down cold!

I am doing much better now and it is my hope that I will be back asap with more useless drivel!

See you in the funny papers,

Bro. David

Some of God's Precious People

The Kenneth Ralph Family

Missionaries to Kenya

We have been blessed to have the privilege of meeting and getting to know this wonderful family. They came and presented their ministry to our Church on Wednesday July 9, 2008. They came and did a great job in music and also in preaching! They presented not only their ministry, but they allowed our church to see into their hearts and see the burden, desire and commitment to the people of Kenya as well as their unflinching devotion to The King Of Kings!

In fact, they were such a blessing that I felt led to ask them to come back on July 20, 2008 and preach for us again in our Sunday Services. What a Blessing!!! I had been praying that the Lord would lead, guide and direct Bro. Ralph in what messages we, The members of Calvary Baptist Church, desperately needed to hear, I was NOT disappointed, Both messages were EXACTLY on target with the needs of our Church. I Thank God for how He is using the Ralph Family to not only carry the message of The Gospel to Kenya, But how He is using them to be a HUGE BLESSING to Churches and Individuals here in America.

I do however have one regret that in all fairness I feel I MUST mention... I personally regret that I, my family and Church did NOT get to meet the Ralph Family MUCH, MUCH SOONER THAN WE DID!

If you are a Pastor and you are interested in Missions and Missionaries who ARE THE REAL DEAL...

Contact Bro. Kenneth Ralph: www.kenya4christ.com

E-mail: missionarykr@hotmail.com

Personal Phone: 251-423-8013

Sending Church: Grace Baptist Church, 8780 Howells Ferry Road, Semmes, AL. 36575, Church Phone: 251-649-7396

As a Pastor, I am very careful who I recommend. I can stand before God and with confidence say that I COMPLETELY AND UNASHAMEDLY RECOMMEND THE RALPH FAMILY TO ALL MISSION MINDED PASTORS AND CHURCHES. Bro. Kenneth & Kristy Ralph are people who are serving the Lord right now, God has His Hands all over these dear people. I only wish there were more people like them in this world!

I am personally planning on recommending them to our Church to take them on and support the Ralph Family in the ministry that God is directing them. I encourage every Pastor to contact them and have them in, you and your Church will be Forever Blessed by their coming!

My prayer is for them and also for Kenya... Get on Board, Let's watch God Work!

I Heard It On The Radio!

I Heard It On The Radio

I was listening to my radio today and I was amazed to find out that there is someone out there in "Radio-Land" who KNOWS what the problem is with our Churches in America today! I of course listened intently to see what startling revelation was about to be given so that I just as I was sure other Pastor's were straining their ears to hear!

I was surely amazed and blown away by what I heard coming through the speaker of my radio. The Man with the answers stated that the reason for the spiritual decline in our churches nation wide is due to one undeniable fact. He said that the Church of today is sending a message to the MEN of America that Religion and churches are, and I quote, "Feminizing the message of Jesus to Men."

Yes Sir, I know that you are just as shocked as I am to find out that all this time, here we thought it was due to the sin of this world growing sicker and sicker, stronger and stronger, and easier and easier to access, what about Sex scandals with Catholic Priests and also Preacher's from many different denominations who have betrayed so many by some act of perversion. How about the changing of our "OLD FASHIONED, ARCHAIC BELIEFS ON MARRIAGE", teaching millions to throw away their commitment to stay married instead of just divorcing the "Old Bag", watering down the Word Of God where it talks against drinking BOOZE! The encouraging of a total generation of "children" to go ahead and take the condom's that the school is handing out, that way you can have sex and not have to worry about anything. STD's WON'T ACTUALLY KILL YOU! So what if you get pregnant AS A CHILD OR A TEENAGER... we have a CURE for that particular problem! What about the alarming rate of teenage abortions in our country, Babies having Babies. Don't forget the Millions of Child abductions every year, Pornography, Drugs, MAN OH MAN WERE WE EVER WRONG!!!!!

The gentleman went on to state that a man walks into the vestibule (lobby) of a church and what does he see... Yep, Fresh Cut Flowers and Doilies! Heaven forbid that the auditorium would be painted any color other than "White", and all those plants and decorations that look like a "Home Interiors" party got out of hand and threw up all over the church!!!!! Oh the shame of it all! He is then invited to join in the singing and public worship atmosphere where there is hand shaking and possible conversation with other people, he is also encouraged and challenged to have a personal "Relationship" with Jesus! This fella made a point to mention that, and I quote again, "NO MAN WANTS TO HAVE A "RELATIONSHIP" WITH ANOTHER MAN!" He insists that "Real Men" want to have a "Walk" NOT a "Relationship" with God.

(** Pause For A Deep Breath Right Here.)

So let me start off by giving you some "Free Word Associations" that come to mind about what was said:

Bunk...... Bologna...... Stupidity...... Hogwash...... Ridiculous...... Ludicrous...... Idiotic...... Moronic...... Poppycock...... Complete Bilge...... Vomitous...... Unbelievable...... Laughable...... Deplorable...... Dumb...... Useless...... Waist Of Time..... Boy Oh Boy...... "Heeeere's Your Sign!"...... Nonsense......

There is soooooooooo much that I would like to say to this poor fellow who thinks that he is clever and has intelligently deduced just where the true problem lies........... But since it will do ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD TO EVEN TRY, for he knows it all, it would in fact be a complete waste of time. Instead, I would like to offer the following.

For many years now I have been noticing a trend in churches all across America. I call them "Frozen Churches". I don't mean that the A/C unit is cranked down real low, I mean that Christians, Preacher's, Sunday School Teachers, Deacon's, Church Members have ALL become stagnant ponds with no life in them. We have removed the pews in the church and replaced them with hundreds of "Coffins" for cold, dead corpses to come and lay down in for the service. We are complacent, satisfied with ourselves and our Non-Spiritual lives.

Let me give you a definition from Webster's dictionary:

STAGNANT, to be without, a flowing motion.
1. Not flowing; not running in a current or stream; as a stagnant lake or pond; stagnant blood in the veins.
2. Motionless; still; not agitated; as water quiet and stagnant.
The gloomy slumber of the stagnant soul.
3. Not active; dull; not brisk; as, business is stagnant.

Now, this is to me one of the key reasons why Men and Women alike are turning away from the church, and more importantly turning away from God. No one wants to swim, much less live in a stagnant body of water. Preacher's, Deacons, Church Staff, Sunday School Teacher's, and Church Members have all become stagnant and the sad part is that we are all OK with this condition.

Souls are dying and plunging into Hell, Christians are drying up on the vine, becoming withered and lifeless. The Pulpits where True Men Of God stood, that once were full of Fire, that were portals for the Power of God to come and reach, touch and change all who listened, both saved and sinner, now are being replaced with clear plastic "Lecturn's" that allow watered down, wishy-washy teaching that wouldn't lead a dog to a bowl of water.

I am sick and tired of the smell of Christianity in America. I want to beg you to go to your church this next Sunday and walk in and take a "Sniff". What will you smell?? I hope you will be honest before God and Honest with God. Preacher, we need to "Stir the Water", Christian, Be a "Spoon"! Come on Christian America, Let's Get the water moving so God can bring Life back into our ministries so that souls can be saved and lives can be forever changed.

Think about it... God Can and Will Do It, If We Would Just Believe!

Hacking Penguins Rule!

HACKING PENGUINS!

Well it finally happened!!! Yes indeed, I have fallen prey to the master's of the internet... "The Hacking Penguins".
This past Sunday afternoon, my wife was using the computer to witness to a couple of Mormon's who were actually listening and asking questions about Salvation in Jesus Christ. Well, earlier in the day she had spoken briefly with another individual who was not as open, nor willing to hear the truth about Jesus Christ paid the price for all of our sins when he substituted Himself for us on the cross at Calvary.
My wife Suzette had mearly mentioned the fact that Jesus Loved this person and he went thru the roof!!! He had to be typing at mach 2 and boy was he MAD!!!!! Suzette finally was able to get in one last word, something to the effect of: "Even if you DON'T BELIEVE HE LOVES YOU, HE STILL DOES!" This, apparently, was NOT what he wanted to hear, so he calmy typed back to my wife that he would fix her and don't say she had not been warned!
About 35 minutes later... yep, you guessed it...
"C.R.A.S.H.!!!!!!!!!!!"
That was Sunday afternoon around 4:30 PM. I have just NOW been able to get some of it back up and running! (*** Tuesday Morning @ 2:56 AM.)
My advice to my wife...
"FORGET THE HACKING PENGUINS AND KEEP ON WITNESSING GIRL!!!!"
I'll do this over and over cause someday, someone's gonna accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and then IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT!

There's No One Like Mom!

SOMETHING SPECIAL

This year I wanted to do something special for my Mother. I sat down last week and tried as hard as I could to do something "Creative" for her as an unusual gift for her. Anyone who knows me will also find it hard to believe that I could have a "Serious" thought and not be looking for a laugh. I want to tell you that I almost hurt myself trying to focus on being "Serious Frame of Mind"!

I want to show you what I did for my Mother, in honor of Mother's Day 2008. Please don't Laugh! You can't blame a guy for trying!!!

“There’s No One Like Mom”

Tonight I sit with pen in hand,
To think of one who is most grand,
She brought me to this world so fair,
A child like me she said was Rare,

When she first saw my big brown eyes,
‘Twas only then she did realize,
Unlike all others I would be,
Unique for all the world to see,

She saw me crawl, to walk, then run,
For all these years I’ve had such fun,
She taught me how to run and play,
Bringing me joy along life’s way,

Sometimes I’d win; sometimes I’d lose,
She’d always help me then to choose,
She taught me about my God Above,
I’d choose to live, to laugh and love,

To live for Him, my life my all,
No matter if the rest should fall,
So many things as I grow old,
His precious Word, to have, to hold,

To watch me grow she did not dread,
That coming day when my wings I’d spread,
She lifted me up where I did land,
And healed my wounds with tender hand,

Life tells me of a debt to thee,
For this one who cared unselfishly,
Her eyes, her heart could always see,
The man that I would one day be,

So today we place high on a stand,
And celebrate throughout our land,
With thanks for all that you have done,
Forever with love we’ll call you… “Mom”.

Calling Sin by Name... Yes or No?

I was working today with my Dad about making some changes and updates to his web site. (http://www.darrelldunn.com/) While looking thru his site I came across something for Pastor's.
This jumped off the screen right at me. This asks a question that Most Pastor's don't want to have asked. I am posting it here for ALL OF US who are Pastor's. How will you personally answer the question.

Me, my Mom and Dad from a few years ago. (Evan. Darrell & Betty Dunn)

"CALLING SIN BY NAME...YES OR NO"

By: Evangelist Darrell Dunn

"A few years ago, while getting ready for a Sunday Morning service, I was watching a very well known Pastor on TV. Something he said caused me to stop what I was doing and walk over in front of the TV so I could hear his answer to a man's recent question.

The man wanted to know if this famous Pastor believe in calling sin by name. His answer literally stunned me!! For one or two minutes ,after giving his brief answer, he labored to prove his belief by this statement, "That is not my job. That is the work of the Holy Spirit...not mine." All right, he was now on record as to what he believed about calling sin by name. Truthfully, it was more of an opinion rather than a belief based on the Word of God.

How about you, Preacher? What do you believe about this now controversial subject? Go ahead, say your answer out loud. Write your opinion down on a piece of paper so you will have to remember what you thought. Then, hopefully, you will be like those in Berea. "...they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES DAILY, whether those things were so. Therefore, may of them believed... (Acts 17, 11&12).

Of course, you may be like many preachers and choose to believe what Pastor so-and-so says, because he is well known or famous and/or he has a big Church. As a dear Pastor friend of mine (Matt Swaitkowski at the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Kearny, N. J.)would say, "WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?" Brother Swaitkowski, who is like a son to me, believes in cutting to the chase or getting to the point. (Refreshing, isn't it?)

It would be great if Preachers would take the time, like the Bereans, and search the Scriptures daily to see if what they heard, think or believe, is Bible truth. I used to have many good sermons when I started preaching at the age of 14 years old (50 years ago). Isn't it amazing how a few verses of Scripture can destroy a good sermon!!! One day, while in meetings with Brother Swaitkowski, he asked my opinion about one of those difficult verses familiar to us all. I gave him a rushed opinion. Instantly he asked me, "But what about what the Bible says in....?" I jokingly replied, "Oh sure, go ahead and use the Bible against me...you should have told me if you wanted me to be Scriptural!!"

It took me seven long, difficult years to become established as an Evangelist. I didn't have my first full week Revival meeting until near the end of my third year. About a year later, I was in a meeting when I preached a message on the Judgment Seat of Christ for Christians. In that Sermon, I made two or three statements that I had heard a few preachers make in their sermons when I was a teenage Preacher boy. I liked their statements, so I had used them the few times I had reached on the Judgement Seat.

After the service, while fellowshipping with the Pastor, he looked me straight in my eyes and asked, "Brother, let me ask you about a couple of statements you made during your Message." I answered his questions as best I could, and he was very kind to this young and dumb Preacher. Finally, instead of telling me how those statements were wrong or partially incorrect, he simply said, "You might want to search the Scriptures again to make sure you are right." At least he didn't call me STUPID!

Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep that night. I spent most of it searching the Scriptures to see if what I had been preaching was really the truth. To my surprise and amazement those two statements were wrong! With tears, I confessed my sin and laziness in searching the Scriptures for the truth about everything I would preach, believe and/or do, to the Lord. In His mercy and grace, He forgave and cleansed me...as I knew He would...according to I John 1:9.

Something else happened that night. I became a Bible Preacher. I determined, before the Lord, by His grace and the help of the blessed Holy Spirit, I would never again preach or teach anything else, anywhere, that I could not prove from the Word of God. I feel sure that the Pastor the Lord used to make me a Bible Preacher is not even aware of what the Lord did through him and his gracious manner to this young Evangelist.

Having learned and practiced this for over 40 years, I would not encourage any Preacher to PREACH THE WORD!! To every Christian reading this, we encourage you to give the people the Word of God in your teaching, witnessing, and conversations...not just your opinion. God promised to bless His Word...not yours!"
WHY POST THIS?
In know you may think I "Had" to post this just because he is my Dad. I have news for you, don't care who you are, this kind of "Straight Forward Biblical Preaching" is what we ALL need, from the Pulpit to the Pew!

That is my opinion about the matter. If we had MORE preaching like this, yes, even in these days of apostacy, we would still be seeing revival in the hearts of Christian's the world over, and as a result of this "Awakening" we would see souls saved and lives forever changed!

You don't have to agree... it's ok to be a "Stagnent Pond" for your church members to drink from. I"m sure that God will understand.

"Living In A World Of No Fear"

In our world today we are living in truly "Perilous Times". The men and women of today, both young and old, walk around as if they are "10 Feet Tall and Bullet Proof"! We see them in our school's, the workplace, the doctor's office, the store, the gas station and yes even in the Church!

Today I sit down to write about something that has been troubling me for a long time. In II Timothy 3:1-7 we see the truth about this plague that is quite literally infecting Christianity and the Church of today.

II Timothy 3:1-7 says:

(1) ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
(2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
(3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
(4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
(5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
(7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

As an Evangelist for many years I began to detect a frightful change in the direction of most Christians in most of our Bible Believing Churches. It is with a heavy heart I must tell you that there has been a steady decline in the way that we, the children of God, are treating Him, His Blessed Book, His Sacred Principles, His Precious Blood, His Grace and His Mercy.

THERE IS NO REVERENTIAL FEAR OF GOD ANYMORE!

America does NOT fear falling into the hands of a Righteous, Holy God, she does not fear that God will bring destruction upon her because of her great sin. BUT He will! Even if America chooses NOT to believe it, that will not keep it from coming. The Christian Church in America does NOT fear The Lord and His Divine Judgment either. The proof of this fact is easily seen, just look around your local Church house next Sunday. I never cease to be amazed at how "Far" we "Christians" will try and stretch the grace and mercy of Almighty God!

We go right on living the way we want to, dressing like the world, forgetting separation, forgetting worldliness, listening to whatever music YOU like, most of us NEVER take God into the consideration process of what is in fact "Good Music". We watch whatever WE want on the TV, never giving God a second thought, not caring that we are ripping His Heart out every time we do wrong. Here is a little bit of truth that we "Christian's" need to be reminded of! When we are NOT serving God, We are serving Satan! You can argue all you want that "No I am not serving satan Preacher, I am looking out for ol' number 1." (ME) If you are looking out for "Self" then you cannot be looking for Jesus.

Think about it this way, every time that we, the Christian's in America, do something wrong, or take His word out of context and blaspheme His precious promises, we drag His Holy name through the mud, or instead of fighting alongside of our Christian brother's we are killing them ourselves with "Friendly Fire" shooting them in the back. It is my personal opinion that we (Christian's) have shot and killed as many as the enemy has. When we do this it is as if we are "Re-Nailing" Jesus to that Cross again and again and again.
We through our "Willful Stupidity" and total lack of concern for the things of God, have begun to make a mockery of all that is Holy and Sacred. When we come together to worship inside our Churches we come in loaded up with all kinds of sin and covered in the filth of this world, with no thought of the truth that in the Old Testament, before they went into worship God, the first washed themselves. They cleaned up before they went into God's presence. Do you know why?
BECAUSE THEY KNEW THAT GOD WAS IN THERE WAITING FOR THEM!

That is the difference, they KNEW God was in there! Today, when we go into Church or the Prayer closet, or to sit down and have our devotions, we don't see God in it, we don't even believe that He is there! We don't go to Church to SEE or MEET God anymore. We go to sit and listen to the Pastor, Evangelist, or Missionary speak, or we go to listen to "Sister So And So" stand and sing a song. We go with our physical eyes open and we NEVER ask God to open our Spiritual Eyes so that we may see HIM!

Shame on us! What have we done! What kind of excuse can we give to God today?? There isn't one that will make it right. Face it folks, we have sinned in rejecting Christ! The Bible tells us about the fact that lost people, those who have rejected Jesus Christ, will be punished for eternity in Hell for this great sin. Hey Christian, I wouldn't be pointing a finger at the lost and wagging my head at them in dissapointment, they learned it from US! We have been putting forth the most pathetic example of what a Christian is supposed to be. It's no wonder that lost people in the world don't want to have anything to do with God. Look at the Church, look at Christianity as a whole, look in the mirror. What kind of example are you setting?

I think that Christian's everywhere need to sit down and take a good, long look at II Timothy 3:1-7 again. Don't just read it once and then close the Book, read it several times, each time asking God to make it real to ALL of us.
The apostle Paul was very clear about this fact, he said (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) that in the "... last days perilous times shall come." (II Timothy 3:1) Paul went on to tell us just exactly what the world would be like "In the last days". I think, if you and I were honest before God, we would have to confess that this does describe our world in 2008! I mean look at some of the list that was given:
  1. Lovers of their own selves
  2. Boasters
  3. Proud
  4. Blasphemers
  5. Disobedient to Parents (* God feels that this is something "Perilous".)
  6. Unthankful
  7. Unholy
  8. False accusers
  9. Despisers of those that are good
  10. Traitors
  11. Highminded
  12. Lovers of pleasure more than Lovers of God

All of these certainly describe our world today. Let's look at verse 5. Paul says that they have a "Form of godliness". Notice this phrase, Paul did NOT say they "WERE GODLY" He used the word "Form". Webster in his dictionary gave the definition of this word as meaning "Model, or Pattern". Another words, paul was saying that these people "Profess" to know God, but in fact they do NOT have the real thing, they have a "Model" OF the real thing. Notice again, Paul said the word "godliness", They had a "Form of Religion", But denied the power, or the Real Power of God, and did not let the true Power of God influence their lives in any way. I believe that God say's we are to turn away from these kinds of people. I am afriad that the sad truth of it is that our churches in America and around the world are full of these kinds of people!

Verse 7 to me is such a sad verse, however it too describes our world today. It says: "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." In other words, they sit under these "So-called" religious teachers but they NEVER get the basic, foundational truth of Salvation. They sit and they work, they sit and they work, and it ALL COUNTS FOR NOTHING. THEY ARE LOST WITH NOTHING BUT HELL TO LOOK FORWARD TOO.

What a sad, sad truth. We truly do live in a World of NO Fear. The real question is Christian, what are "WE" doing to change this? The answer is... NOTHING!

Wake Up Christian... God IS watching!

There's No Friends Like Old Friends!

This has been an exciting week for me due to the fact that I have "Reconnected" with two friends that I have not seen or heard from in over 20 years! I was very pleasantly surprised to hear from both of them.
College Chum's
One of them was a friend of mine from College days! (Not that either one of us actually did anything even close to studying during this time.) He has lived on the west coast since leaving college, married the love of his life and settled down. He and his wife now have 2 daughters of their own and they are thinking of adopting another baby girl.
He decided about 3 years ago to go back to school, and he and his family moved to Missouri to attend the college he felt led to attend. We were able to spend several hours on the phone just catching up and laughing about a lot of old memories, swapping stories and updating each other on our families and our ministries.
High School Teacher
The other person that I was able to make contact with was a gentleman who was a teacher back when I was in high school. His name was Mr. Jackson back then, (He told me on the phone that I don't have to call him "Mr. Jackson" anymore if I don't want to.) and he was one of the absolute "Coolest" teacher's I had ever met! Here is something that may seem a little crazy... I never had Mr. Jackson for a class! Not once! I met him through a rather unusual path.
In my high school, when you got in trouble for something, you received a "Detention". For each one of these you had to stay after school and go to "Detention Hall". This is where I met Mr. Jackson. He and I became quite good friends seeing how I was "Hanging Out" with him in detention hall almost EVERY DAY!!!
Detention Hall was part of my life. Let me explain to you just what it was all about. Mr. Jackson had made up some rules for my fellow students and I and here is how we spent our time together. If you were to serve time in Detention Hall you had to be in the room, in your seat with nothing on your desk, before the 3:00 pm bell would ring. Once seated Mr. Jackson would explain the rules. (Again & again, day after day, week after week, month after month, and in my case, year after year!) Here are the rules. (** Over 20 years later and I still remember them!) From 3:00 to 3:50 pm, you had to sit in your seat at your desk, facing forward. You could either fold your hands on the desk or you could place them apart on the desk with your palms down. (The palms down way was not a good way, your hands seemed to move more. When they are folded they don't seem to get "Squirmy"!) You had to sit still, Hands on the desk, head facing forward, your feet flat on the floor, (You could not move ANYTHING.) even if someone came in the room after 3:00 you could not move your head to look at them.
You were allowed to sneeze and cough, but you had to do this without moving. Oh and by the way Mr. Jackson was very good at telling a real sneeze from a fake one you made up just so you could try to move a little. (The man was an artist!) You were allowed 3 scratches during that 50 minute time period. He would keep track of it in his notebook and I must say that for a man with glasses, he had incredible vision!
After the 50 minutes you did not just get up and go, you had to be dismissed, so you might have to sit there a few minutes longer than someone else. Now get this, You were not allowed to talk, you could answer a question if Mr. Jackson asked you one, but if you talked, you failed. If you scratched more than 3 times, you failed, if you moved it was used as one of your scratches. The really interesting part about all of this is that "If" you failed, Mr. Jackson would not tell you until the time was over and that meant that you would have to come back the next day after school and do it ALL over again!
During my years in Detention Hall, by the way I do still hold the record for the most detentions in a career, Mr. Jackson and I became very good friends. He would many times ask me questions and he and I would have these wonderful discussions right there in front of everybody. We would just talk like we were sitting around visiting with old friends. (Only I was NOT allowed to move a muscle!)
Looking back now, I have to confess that the job he did was not easy. He was always surrounded by the "Trouble makers" and the "Misfits". I dare say that I owe a large part of who I am today to Mr. Jackson. In a time in my life when other teacher's were actually telling me that I was "Useless", I met a man who saw that I was good for something.
They say that a teacher has the ability to make or break a student. I for one Thank God for Mr. Jackson, he took time out of his life to invest in mine. He didn't have to, yet he did.
So, it is with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye, that I say:
"Mr. Jackson, Thank You Sir."

Teenager Behind The Wheel

Well, I have finally entered a new phase in life, it is the area where My oldest son is now getting behins the wheel and starting to drive me around. (He is the reason for a picture of a Camaro.) I can well remember the day that my own father took me out and threw me behind the wheel of the car and then the "Public Service Announcements" began. In spite of all of the "legal disclaimers" and the "waiver" that I had to sign, both my dad and I made it through. I sat there the other day while my son, David James, was driving and I was remembering about those driving lessons that my father gave me, suddenly I realized that the nervous twitch that my father developed when I was 16 was in fact MY FAULT!

I was sitting there calmly giving instructions filled with Love, Wisdom and the occasional uttered prayer for protection, when I looked at David James. There sat a tall, skinny young man who was scared to death and NOT wanting to show it. I remember feeling that way when my dad was riding with me all those years ago.

I remember not wanting to mess up or make a single mistake, only I remember my dad saying to me more than once, "Don't worry about it, everybody makes mistakes at first." He was so right. We all make them at first, but the idea is that the more we practice the better we will become.

I find the same to be true in the Christian Life. We all make mistakes, the main point is to learn from them and grow. What a shame it is for people to make mistakes and NEVER learn or grow from them. Sadly, our churches throughout America and the World are full of people who seem to NEVER learn or grow from their mistakes. This should not be the case in your life. Let's ask God to help us to learn and grow from the mistakes we make.

I looked over at David James and I told him just what my dad told me. I will never forget the simple wisdom that I could always find, and still do, when I talk to my Father, I hope that one day my son will be able to say to me what I am NOW saying to my Father... "Thanks Dad!"

Here Is What's New In Our World.

Greetings to you!

Well, let me see if I can bring you up to speed. On February 3, 2008, my family and I were invited to come and preach that Sunday for the good folks at the Calvary Baptist Church, located in Grove Hill, Alabama. These folks were without a pastor and so they asked us to come and candidate for the position of Pastor.

We have known these people for many years, we had preached for them many times as an Evangelist over the years. We also came and preached for them for a couple of weeks this last summer after their former Pastor had resigned. They held a business meeting after the evening service and they voted to call us to be their Pastor!

My wife Suzette and I along with our 6 children have moved our belongings from Florida to Alabama.

A GREAT HONOR

One thing about being here that I am truly honored by, is that Calvary Baptist Church was once pastored by a "True Man Of God"! He is not only that, he is also my friend. I am truly honored to be able to stand in the same pulpit and pastor the same church as Dr. Danny Harvey. I would ask that you please remember to pray for Bro. Harvey's health. He is no longer able to pastor full time, but he is still preaching as well as he is a professor at Landmark Baptist College in Haines City, FL. (* Bro. Harvey shares my Love for the beauty of Lighthouses. That is why I put in the picture. I hope he likes it.)

IN THE MEAN TIME

We have been doing our best to Preach what the Lord lays on our heart for each service. We have been facing a few rough spots, the same old stuff about how some people are not happy unless they are "Running Down" the church and the new Pastor. We even are having to deal with a great deal of bad reputation that has been known in the community over the last several years.I would ask that you please keep us, My Family as well as the membership of Calvary Baptist Church, in your prayers.

Thank You,

In His Highest Service,

Pastor David J. Dunn

What I Believe

The Scriptures- We believe in the plenary, verbal, Divine inspiration of the Holy Bible. The Holy Scriptures of the Old (Masoretic Hebrew) and the New (Textus Receptus) Testaments are the inspired, inerrant Word of God; the complete and final revelation of God's will to man. The Word of God is the supreme standard of faith and practice (Isaiah 40:8; John 10:35; ll Timothy 3:16; ll Peter 1:19-21). The King James, AV 1611, is the inerrant Word of God, providentially preserved. There is no need to revise, update, correct, better explain, or change it in any way ( Revelation 22:18-10; Deuteronomy 4:2).
God- There is one supreme God, omnipotent, omniscient, manifesting Himself in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; one in nature, attributes, power and glory ( Genesis 1:1; Mark 12:29; Matthew 28:19; ll Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1-4; John 5:17-27; Philippians 2:6-11).
The Person and Work of Christ- Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He is therefore true God and true Man. Jesus Christ is impeccable in His nature and sinless in His life. He died on the cross and shed His precious blood as an atonement for our sins; was buried and rose again the third day. he ascended into Heaven and as our High Priest intercedes for us. He is coming again for His church (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1-4, 14; Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 1:26-35; l Timothy 3:16).
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit- The Holy Spirit is a Divine person; the third Person of the Trinity. he is the administrator of the things of God; convicting of sin, revealing Christ, teaching the truth, restraining evil, energizing believers in prayer, worship, and service and is ever present in the believer as our Comforter and Helper (Psalm 139:7-12; John 7:38-39, 15:26, 16:3, 14; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9; l Corinthians 6:19; ll Thessalonians 2).
Salvation and Security of the Believer- All who believe on Jesus Christ as Saviour are justified on the ground and merit of His shed blood on the cross, and are saved by grace through faith, wholly apart from human merit and works ( John 1:29; Acts 13:38-39; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:3-8). All who are born again by the Spirit of God through faith in Christ are eternally secure (John 5:24, 10:22-29; ll Timothy 1:12; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8:32-39).
The Church- The local church is a called out assembly of believers who assemble together in obedience to Christ's command for this age. The local New Testament church is the agency through which God works to carry out the Great Commission to the lost and dying world ( Matthew 16:18, 18:17, 28:19-20; l Corinthians 1:2; Mark 16:15-16).
The Ordinances of the Local Church- There are two ordinances of the local church; Baptism and the Lords Supper. The Scriptural mode for Baptism is by immersion (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Matthew 3:16-17; l Corinthians 11:23-32).
The Personality of Satan- Satan is a real personality; a created being of great beauty and power, the prince of this world, the god of this air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. He fell through pride, and became enemy to God and deceiver of man. He will ultimately be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire (Ezekiel 28:12-19; Isaiah 14:12-14; Job 1:1; John 8:44; Revelation 20:1-3, 7-10).
The Eternal State- We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead; the saved to a life of eternal glory and bliss in Heaven with God; the unsaved to eternal judgment of conscious suffering and woe in the Lake of Fire ( John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:6, 11-15, 21:1-8; Matthew 10:28; ll Thessalonians 1:6-9 ).
The Millennium- After His personal, bodily, visible return at the end of the tribulation, the Lord Jesus Christ will establish His kingdom on earth and reign as the blessed and only potentate for one thousand years (l Timothy 6:14-15; Revelation 20:6-7; Isaiah 65:15-25).
The Great Commission- It is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to engage in personal evangelism and to do their utmost to give the Gospel of Christ to the whole world ( Matthew 4:19, 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8; John 17:18, 20-21).
Personal Separation- God's people are called to be separated people who abide in Christ, walk in the Spirit and enjoy victory over the world, flesh, and devil (Romans 12:11-2; Galatians 5:16; l John 2:15-17; Colossians 3:1-17; ll Corinthians 2:14).
Ecclesiastical Separation- In obedience to the Holy Word of God the people of God should practice Scriptural separation from all forms of ecclesiastical apostasy and compromise. This would include ( but not limited to) the Ecumenical Movement, Neo-Evangelicalism, and Neo-Orthodoxy ( Philippians 3:17-18; Romans 16:17-18; l Timothy 1:19-20; ll Timothy 3:5, 4:14; Ephesians 5:11; ll Corinthians 6:14-17; Titus 1:13, 3:10-11; ll Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15; l Corinthians 5:11).
Charismatic Movement- We reject this movement and it's teachings of Faith Healers and it's speaking in tongues as evidence of being filled with the Spirit.
Music- Music should be Christ Honoring and not Glorifying the individual(s) who sing or play it.

My Testimony

I was saved when I was 16 years old, during a City Wide Crusade that my home church was hosting. Evangelist Jerry Johnston was preaching that Wednesday Evening on the subject of “The Holy Spirit”. I was sitting with some of my friends that night and the more that Bro. Jerry preached the deeper and deeper I fell under conviction that I was truly lost and headed straight for Hell. You see, I was born and raised in a Preacher’s home, my parents believed in being faithful to church, so I was in church the Sunday after I was born. I was raised under my Christian parents and under the preaching of my dad, Evangelist Darrell Dunn and many other men like my Pastor (at the time.) Dr. Lee Roberson, Bro. Lester Roloff, Dr. John R. Rice, Dr. Bill Rice & Dr. Jack Hyles.
I knew all about the Bible, I was taught about it at home, at Church and in School. I had taken my Bible and led many people to the Lord, however I did NOT know Him as my own PERSONAL Savior. At the time of the crusade I was even the Chaplain for my Class in High School. I was Lost but yet I served as the Chaplain. What a Fraud I was! That night I sat there trying my best to close out everything that the preacher was saying, he was getting on my nerves and I was somewhat successful in shutting his words out of my mind for a time. I was just thinking about making it through the service. I told myself that if I could just live through this one service then I could “Fake” some mystery illness to get out of having to come back. Man, was I ever kidding myself. One thing that I know about the Lord is that when He wants to get a hold on you, He will do it!
I sat there doing my best to not listen and the Lord reached down and opened my ears. When He did, Bro. Jerry made this statement: “Young people, someone in here tonight is running from God. You have shut your ears to the preaching of the truth that is found in the Word of God. What’s more is that you know the truth, you know the Bible. I want you to know that God knows who you are and He is going to make sure that the Word finds it’s way into your heart.” After he said this I shut him out again. I sat there thinking that Bro. Jerry was talking directly to me!I kept telling myself that I was ok, I could make it, I was going to be just fine.I was sitting there lying to myself when the Holy Spirit whispered to my heart and said: “David, this is your last chance, get it settled, your lost. IT’S NOW OR NEVER!”I sat there a moment longer when again God opened my ears, Bro. Jerry then said: “Someone in here tonight, God has just said to you that this is your last chance” Bro. Jerry went on and said: “He has just said to you that it is NOW OR NEVER!” then my ears were shut again. I sat there as the invitation started going over it in my mind, I was trying to convince myself that it couldn’t be true. Just then, the devil whispered to me and said: “Oh Dave, don’t worry about it, your Ok, your not a bad person, you’ll be fine. Besides everyone in this church knows you, they know you are the son of a Baptist preacher, how embarrassing will it be for your parents, they already think your saved, they will be ashamed. What about all of your friends, you’re a Chaplain, they will all know that you have lied to them about it. It just isn’t worth all of the grief that is envoled, just let it go, your Ok.” I stood there gripping the pew in front of me with white knuckles, then I heard those words echo again in my mind: “IT’S NOW OR NEVER!”
I stepped out that Wednesday night, March 19, 1985, walked down that aisle to the front where my Youth Pastor, Bro. Abb Thomas was standing. I told him through my tears that I was lost and needed to be saved, he cried with me and took me to the same verses that I had used many times to show others how to find salvation. Praise the Lord, I know with out a single doubt that I am on my way to heaven.
It was just a little over a year later that I was at a Youth Conference where God called me to preach the gospel. I have been preaching now for just over 22 years, 15 years as an Evangelist traveling and holding revival meetings, youth camps, rally’s, soul winning classes teaching people how to reach others, and then continuing the cycle teaching the ones they bring to Christ how to go and do the same. I am blessed to be a servant of God. I know of no greater calling that the one I have received to give my life to the furthering of the Kingdom of Christ.

In His Highest Service,

Pastor David J. Dunn
